Interested in learning more about the Rwanda Summer Trip?
Come to one of the following Info Sessions on Sunday, February 14th: after the 11 Midtown Gathering in the cafeteria, or after the Encore Gathering in Room 2/4.

The 'Reel Jesus' Film Festival

Gospels on the Screen
"A series of films and forums exploring the various representations of Jesus -- from the reverential to the controversial -- on the silver screen."
Brainstorming began among the State Theatre Film Collective of a film or collection of films to pique the interest of community movie-goers. At this time it was shortly after Easter and the thought of religion in film was brought to the table. There are many community members that are interested in the topic of religion.
We think these movies will appeal to a broad audience, not just those sitting in pews or congregations but also film buffs and cultural critics among us.
Shows begin at 7 pm.
There will be a 10 minute "debrief" followed by a 30-40 minute Q & A for each selection.

Serve in a urban setting: Spring Break in NYC

Spend 3 days of Spring Break in NYC: 3/12-14 urban ministry opportunity. Not able to give your entire spring break to serving somewhere? Consider joining us for a three-day trip to NYC where we will partner with the New York School of Urban Ministry (www.nysum.org) to serve the needs of the homeless and others. For almost 30 years, NYSUM has parntered with local churches and ministries to equip people to minister in urban locations. Our plan: leave State College a 8am on Friday (March 12) and return Sunday evening (March 14). Meals and lodging provided. Cost $185.00/person. Ages 13 and older are welcome to join us. Blue Knob Ski Trip tomorrow!!
The new game plan is to meet up at 1250 on Saturday, January 30th at 8:15am. We will carpool from there. We will play it by ear, but I think the majority will want to ski all day. However, with several cars, some may be leave earlier.
If you plan on coming, please indicate so on the Facebook event. Matt Rooke will be checking the list on Saturday to make sure everyone makes it before we leave (but, please do your best to be on time!)

Haiti Relief: Donations being collected at the Marriott!
"On January 12, a 7.0 magnitude earthquake struck Haiti. Thousands of disaster victims need help rebuilding their lives and communities. Many people have gone missing, and those that remain have no place to live, sleep or bathe. Basic supplies are what are needed the most at this time, including:
o Clothing
o Towels
o Linen and Bedding
o Hygiene Basics
We are blessed to have these resources right in our own homes! Look through your homes for those old clothes and toiletries you've been meaning to get rid of and worn-out towels and linens that can be put
to good use again for those in need.
We will gather all of our donations and send them to Rebecca Gabriel, General Manager of the West Palm Beach Courtyard by Marriott. Rebecca
has developed this support-drive, as she and many other associates of the WPB Courtyard had many loved ones affected by the tragedy. Rebecca and her team will distribute the supplies to those in need.
The State College Marriott is collecting all of our supplies now through the next two months (or until people are able to send things into Haiti). You can drop things off at: 1555 University Drive
They'll be collecting for a few weeks at least. Thanks again for your help! "
