ThirdPlace Celebration

7:00pm-9:00pm at Harvest Fields
We have seen God do incredible things in and through the ThirdPlace community. It is our desire to stop and celebrate the great things that God is doing!
The celebration will be an intimate, relaxed, out-door setting at Harvest Fields, at the top of the hill. We'll be spending time together while enjoying appetizers and desserts, with live music in the background and the beauty of the Harvest Fields land before us! Following that, we will have a time of sharing ... a time to encourage one another with what God is doing in and through us all. There will also be a time of worship and prayer at the end of the evening to specifically bless and pray for people transitioning to another stage in their lives (couples who are newly engaged or married, people moving to different locations, people going on short term missions trips, etc.).
We want to bless people as they transition....so if you are leaving State College, or just transitioning in some way, we'd love, LOVE to share, pray for you, and celebrate you! It will be a time for all of us to come together, to encourage one another, and celebrate together!

This event is open to all, however, we'll be specifically recognizing and praying for those who are transitioning in some way...so please join us as we celebrate together, eat together, and send off our friends!

Rwanda Summer Trip 2010: work at a Boys Home in Biyamana, Rwanda
Spend time with boys at the Home, while also serving the surrounding community (helping the poor, tutoring English, and more!). Upcoming trip is planned for July 12th-July 30th, 2010.

Team will be decided by Sunday, March 21st. Team deposits are due on Sunday, March 28th ($100 to reserve your seat).
Total cost of trip= $2,100 (cost includes airfare, travel insurance, food, lodging, ground costs). Cost does not include vaccinations or personal spending.

On Saturday, March 27th a team from Calvary will be going to Lancaster to the GAIN warehouse to pack food for Haiti. We will be packing beans and rice and perhaps a few other things. The meals we pack will be headed to Haiti within weeks.

* 11:00am-12:30pm: Group sharing/encouragement, along with corporate worship and prayer.

The 'Reel Jesus' Film Festival

"A series of films and forums exploring the various representations of Jesus -- from the reverential to the controversial -- on the silver screen."
Brainstorming began among the State Theatre Film Collective of a film or collection of films to pique the interest of community movie-goers. At this time it was shortly after Easter and the thought of religion in film was brought to the table. There are many community members that are interested in the topic of religion.
We think these movies will appeal to a broad audience, not just those sitting in pews or congregations but also film buffs and cultural critics among us.
Shows begin at 7 pm.
There will be a 10 minute "debrief" followed by a 30-40 minute Q & A for each selection.

Serve in a urban setting: Spring Break in NYC

Spend 3 days of Spring Break in NYC: 3/12-14 urban ministry opportunity. Not able to give your entire spring break to serving somewhere? Consider joining us for a three-day trip to NYC where we will partner with the New York School of Urban Ministry (www.nysum.org) to serve the needs of the homeless and others. For almost 30 years, NYSUM has parntered with local churches and ministries to equip people to minister in urban locations. Our plan: leave State College a 8am on Friday (March 12) and return Sunday evening (March 14). Meals and lodging provided. Cost $185.00/person. Ages 13 and older are welcome to join us.
