Food Drive - Benefits State College Food Bank

Now through February 27th, Barb and Matthew's life group will collecting non-perishable food for the State College Food Bank. The food will go to provide for the needs of families in the State College Area as well as to support the network of food pantries in the Centre County Area.

Food Bank's Current Needs List:

• Grocery store Gift Cards - any denomination is appreciated
• Jello or pudding mixes
• Laundry soap, bath/hand soap
• Canned beef stew and/or chile
• Canned pasta (ravioli, spaghetti, etc.)
• Canned fruit, especially "lite" varieties
• Peanut Butter

The following items are always needed as we cannot purchase these through our state food purchasing program. We rely soley on donations for these items:

• Coffee, Tea and Hot Chocolate
• Granulated sugar and/or sugar supplements (no confectioner's sugar)
• Mayonnaise/Salad Dressing

The Food Bank currently has sufficient supplies of the following:

• Soup
• Canned Tuna
• Jelly
• Beans (other than green beans)

ThirdPlace Prayer Retreat

When: Saturday, March 1st, 8:30am-12:30pm
Where: Calvary Baptist Church
What: A time to connect with God, be encouraged, and do battle on the behalf of those in need!

With guest facilitators Bruce Eveleth and Jean Paul Ntabanganyimana, the prayer retreat will be a unified time of corporate prayer and worship combined with solitude and time for reflection and connecting with Jesus!

The schedule for the day is as follows:

• 8:30am-9:30am: Corporate prayer/worship.
• 9:30am-11:30am: Personal connection time with Jesus. Spend some time with our Big Daddy.
• 11:30am-12:30pm: Group sharing/encouragement, along with corporate worship and prayer.

"I woke up the morning of the prayer retreat in one of my blue funks, and was pretty much ready to head right back to bed. I didn't want to be part of another program. sometimes I feel like I attend program after program, and I just wanted a break from something scheduled...from another "event." Something inside said, get out of the house and get there. So, I went. I cannot tell you how grateful I am that I chose the prayer retreat instead of a quiet morning in my home. God showed up in such a powerful way in my life and in the lives of those around me. Mostly, the things God spoke were simple. But I need to simply know some simple things that morning. "For two weeks prior to the prayer retreat, I had been experiencing a holy discontent that I'd never felt before. I felt so far from God and I wanted to be close! I just couldn't find my way back. I was battling a lot of doubt about God and who He is...I was questioning His character and was brought to a place where I had to decide whether or not I truly believed God was who He says He is. I was needing a break through and was looking forward to the prayer retreat, hoping that the time seeking God with others would be the break through that I needed. God led me to a significant spot on the Harvest Fields property where He touched my soul in the most personal way I've ever experienced. He revealed His Son Jesus on the cross for me and as I looked upon the Cross, I could see Jesus there with His arms spread out saying, "Here I am for you. I am all for you." And at that moment I looked upon Jesus' face and saw the glory of God revealed in the face of Jesus Christ. I realized that it is truly God who seeks after us and finds us in our broken places. He let the floor drop out from beneath me so that He could fill my soul with Himself from the bottom up."

Housing / Sublets

Tenants for House: Matthew Heinz is moving to Rwanda for six months and he needs to find tenants for his house and care for his dog Tate. This would be July-December 2008. The house is fully furnished and the tenants would be able to use anything that is there. The following is what he would like the tenants to provide:

Pay rent - $1000/month plus utilities (about $250 - $300 or so).
Take care of the house (mowing, raking, shoveling, etc).
Take care of Tate (very easy two year-old pug).
Keep the house open and available for ThirdPlace functions if needed.
